Mr. James Michael (Jimmie) Bohannon, 77, passed away on March 27, 2021.

Jimmie was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. 

He was born on April 9, 1943 to James and Faye Bohanon.  

Family was always first in his life. He spent his life loving and providing for his family.  He helped take care of his mother and wife prior to their deaths.

Jimmie worked with the Department of Transportation for over 30 years where he retired.  He loved to fish all over North Carolina with his special fishing buddy, Bubba Blanchard. He loved spending time with his dance partner for life and girlfriend, Emily Luter.

Jimmie was a Mason and served the Royal White Hart Lodge in Halifax. He loved piddling in his shop and taking care of his yard.  In 1965, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Joyce Dixon Bohannon.

His precious memory will be forever treasured by is daughter, Tammy Bohannon Clark and son-in-law, Bob; his nephews, Michael Bohanon and wife Kim, Brian Bohanon and wife Robin; Lee Gilliam and wife Debbie; his nieces, Sandy Dixon and Husband Jeffrey, Carol Dee Bohanon, Lisa Gupton and husband Ken; his great-nieces, Ashley Bellamy, Ashlyn Bohanon and Leann Gilliam; his great-nephews, Seth and Carson Bohanon, Tyler Gupton and Cameron Podruchny; his aunt, Elaine Turner (Robert); his sister-in-law, Carolyn Gilliam; and many other relatives and a multitude of friends.

Jimmie was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Joyce D. Bohannon; his sister, Barbara Faye Pittman; and his brother, Carroll Douglas “Bo” Bohanon.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids.

The funeral service, with Masonic Rites, will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 1, 2021, from the graveside in Quankie Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 48.  Expression of comfort will be given by Reverend Henry Stephens.

The service will be recorded and posted for viewing later on the Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service Facebook page.
