Mrs. Dean Johnson Dunlow, 74, of Roanoke Rapids, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Vidant North Hospital.

Dean was born in Halifax County on August 10, 1946, the daughter of Charlie Linwood and Eleanor Jean Taylor Johnson.  Her parents; husband, Edward; and brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Betty Johnson, all preceded her in death.

A member of Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church, she loved the Lord; she also loved her family – children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed playing cards and talking on the phone.   Mrs. Dunlow was a retired manager, having worked in the gas industry.

She is survived by her son, Ed Dunlow (Carmen); daughters, Dee Jones (Bug), Tammie Parrott (WJ) and Sherl Wilson (Mike); brother, Jack Johnson (Dianne); twin sister, Jean Johnson; sisters-in-law, Nettie Mae Moseley and Ann Rook; grandchildren, Angel Carter, Lisa Bates, Ernest “Buggy” Jones, Jr, Jessica Gill, Ashlie King, Trinity Todd, Joseph Parrott, Christian Love, Edward Dunlow III, Jason Dunlow, Skyler Dunlow, Isabella Alvarez, CJ Harrell, Jr, Johnathan Dunlow, Michael Wilson, Jr, Steven Wilson; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.   

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 am Tuesday at Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the funeral to follow at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary.  Pastor Matthew Smith will preside.  Interment will be private in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Attendees are asked to observe masking and social distancing recommendations.

Arrangements are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
