Josephine Batts Myrick 91, died Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Carolina Rest Home.

Mrs. Myrick was born June 18, 1929 in Nash County, the daughter of William Benjamin Batts and Naomi Flowers Batts.  

Her parents, as well as husbands, Johnnie Strickland and James Oliver Myrick, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Myrick worked as a CNA healthcare sitter to pursue her passion for helping people. She was a loving wife, sister, and friend to many. 

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Randy (Joann) Strickland, Frankie (Doris) Strickland, and sister-in-law, Yvonne (Grady) Elias of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Marion Tompkins (Doug) of California; brother, C. Nathaniel “Whitey” Batts of Rocky Mount; niece Frances F. Brewer and other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at Hockaday Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 6th, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Ricky Barnes will preside. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Guests are asked to observe social distancing and masking recommendations.
