Van Douglas Barfield, 72, of Littleton, died December 30, 2020 at PAMS in Rocky Mount.

He was born in Dillon, SC on February 21, 1948, the son of Carlton and Gertrude Caulder Barfield, who preceded him in death.  

A sister, Darlene, also predeceased him.

Van loved fishing and cars.  

He retired as a Lieutenant from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office following a 32-year career in law enforcement.

Survivors include his daughters, Natasha Barfield (Christy Privette), Amber Barfield; sons, Van Barfield (Laura), Johnell Barfield (Ivette) and Colton Barfield (Krissy Aycock); 8 grandchildren; his former wife, Sandy Barfield; brothers, Kenny (Peggy), Bobby (Ruth), Mike (Anne), Craig; and sister, Tammy Barfield.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Van Barfield will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 2, 2021, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.  

Pastor Dan Bybee will preside. Honors will be provided by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard.

Guests are asked to observe social distancing and masking recommendations.
