Audrey Lee Rose Hux, age 74, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019.

Audrey was born in Halifax County, daughter of the late Lester Freeman Rose and Blanche Johnson Rose (Shell).  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher John Hux, her daughter, Melinda Gail Hux, her sister, Verlie Rose Cullom, her step-father, Johnnie Shell, and step brother, Alton Shell.

Audrey was retired as a Special Project Supervisor from Variety Wholesalers where she spent many years enjoying her travels setting up stores in the southeast.  For most of her career, she worked in retail, but also was a licensed cosmetologist. She attended Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church, enjoyed fishing at the coast with her husband, playing bingo, and loved spoiling her grandson, Matthew.  She was always a positive person with a quick wit that would make the people around her laugh and enjoy life. She was happiest when she was in her rocking chair drinking a Sun Drop. 

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lee Wesley Hux, Sr.; her son Lee Wesley (Wes) Hux, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Roanoke Rapids; her daughter, Karen Hux Voelz and her husband, David of Sanford; her grandson, Matthew Voelz; her sister in law/daughter, Sheila Hux Casey and her husband, Jeff of Roanoke Rapids; her brothers, Freeman “Lester” Rose and his wife, Sarah of Roanoke Rapids, Arthur Ray Rose and his wife, Jean of Raleigh; her step sister, Margaret McDonough of Kokomo, IN; her cousin/special friend, Loretta Jean of Roanoke Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Betty Staton of Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids and other times at the home of her son and daughter in law.  
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services officiated by Pastor Tony Smith and Dr. Bane Angles.  Interment will follow immediately at Cedarwood Cemetery.
