Raymond Olin “Buck” Dickens, Sr., 76 of Roanoke Rapids died Saturday July 17, 2021 at Vidant medical center in Greenville.

Buck was a native of Roanoke Rapids and was the son of the late Raymond Lewis “Rabbit” Dickens and Penny Crawley Dickens. He was a graduate of William R. Davie High School and was the owner operator of Dickens Pulpwood and Logging for many years. He also retired from NCDOT as a supervisor.

Buck was an avid sports fan, playing softball in the local leagues and traveling to play in tournaments far and wide for many years. He loved his NY Yankees.

He is survived by his daughters, Geneva Dickens of Littleton, Heather Tuck and her husband Michael of Garysburg and Holley Upton of Kenley, NC; his sons Rodney Dickens and his wife Toni of Aurelian Springs and Jody Dickens and Cindy Deaton of Gaston; twelve grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; his sisters, Faye Powell and Louise Warren both of Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday July 20, 2021 at 11 am in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Mike Little officiating.

Interment followed in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
