Elizabeth Vick Barrett, 100 of Conway, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

112720afs

Born in Conway on February 10, 1920, she was a daughter of the late John Moore and Nettie Vann Vick.

She was a member of Conway Baptist Church and attended until she was no longer able to go. She was a dedicated wife and sister but she devoted her life to raising her four children and being a wonderful homemaker for them. Elizabeth was always interested in what the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in and helped out with them when needed. She had a passion for working in her yard, visiting her farm to see how the crops were growing and in her later years she enjoyed search-a-word books to help keep her mind busy.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Thomas Barrett, two daughters, Vickie B. Gilliam and LaVonne B. Williams, a grandson, R.K. Barrett, grandson-in-law, Graham Pearce. She was preceded by her sisters, Janie V. Garriss, Levie V. Bohnen, her brothers, Henry, Elias and Eldrige Vick and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Joseph Robert Barrett and his wife, Ellen; Willie Thomas Barrett, Jr. and his wife, Martha both of Conway, NC; a son-in-law, Tom Gilliam of Roxboro, NC; six grandchildren, Lisa G. Brooks (Earl) of Roxboro, NC., Tim Gilliam (Kim) of Timberlake, NC, John Gilliam (Kristi) of South Boston, VA, Marianna B. Cotton (Jeff) of Conway, NC, Rob Barrett (Katie) of Pinehurst, NC, Valerie B. Pearce of Conway, NC, thirteen great-grandchildren, Earl Thomas Brooks (Karen), Rebecca, Melissa, Stephanie, and Heidi Gilliam, Rachel and Abbi Gilliam, Warren Cotton, Lawson, Caroline and Whitley Barrett, Reese and Presley Pearce and one great-great-grandchild, Everleigh Parker.

A special thank you to all of the staff at Community Hospice out of Roanoke Rapids, NC for the attention and love you gave to our mother so she could remain at home. It will always be remembered.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at the Conway Cemetery on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 2pm with Rev. Willie McLawhorn officiating.

The family will receive friends after the graveside service at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Conway Volunteer Fire Department at P.O. Box 158 Conway, NC 27820.
