Janet Collier Outland, 86, died Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie. 

She was such a loving Christian woman and touched the lives of everyone who knew her; having such a powerful and nurturing spirit, she always gave of herself endlessly. 

She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. 

She always enjoyed helping others and was a living example of an angel here on earth. 

Mrs. Outland has left a beautiful legacy here on earth and will forever live on in the hearts of her loving family, friends and all that knew her. 

Mrs. Outland was born in Northampton County, January 10, 1934, daughter of the late Dock and Josie Collier. 

She was employed for many years in Rich Square nursing facilities and served as manager at Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi, NC for over 20 years before her retirement. 

Mrs. Outland spent her entire career helping and caring for others. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Outland was preceded in death by her husband, Roger William “Red” Outland; brother, Garland Collier; sons, Gary and William Outland, and her grandson, Phillip Outland. 

Surviving are her daughters, Sheila Crowder and husband, Danny, and Kim Outland, all of Lasker; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan Outland and wife, Candace, of Aulander, NC, William Outland, Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Lasker, NC, Dan Crowder and wife, Kendra, of Grimesland, NC, Robin Little and husband, Ben, of Jackson, NC, Tracy Forrester and husband, Justin, of Suffolk, VA, Allison Crowder and Elizabeth Glascock, both of Murfreesboro, NC. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, cousins, a large extended family and many close friends.

The family will have a private graveside service to remember Mrs. Outland’s life in New Hope Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in honor of Janet C. Outland to: Pine Forest Rest Home, 3277 Hwy 35, Woodland, NC 27897.
