Harry Thomas Bright, 92, of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019.

He was born in Halifax County to the late Joe Cecil Bright, Sr. and Harriett B. Boylan. 

Harry was preceded in death by his wife Eva Vaughan Bright; and his daughter Gail Bright Strickland.

He was a veteran in the Army Air Corp and retired from Big Star Grocery Store after 44 years of service and then went to work part time for the Gaston Red and White for 21 years. 

He was also a member of Stanley White Presbyterian Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC, where he was an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent for over 40 years. 

He was also a past president of the Roanoke Rapids Exchange Club. In addition, Harry was also a former Commander of the American Legion of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a Volunteer Fireman with the Roanoke Rapids Fire Department for 20 years; a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and as a ministry he also visited many shut ins.

Harry is survived by his daughter, Harriett Boylan and her husband, Terry of Raleigh, NC; his son-in-law, Jimmy Strickland of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his brother, Bobby Bright and his wife, Joann of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his four grandchildren, Trey Strickland, Ashley S. Griffies and her husband, Brody, Eva Elizabeth and Mary Lindsey; and his two great grandchildren, Lala Griffies and Lillian Griffies; and his nephew, Joey Bright of Pinehurst, NC.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 1pm in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

The family will receive friends on Monday October 7, 2019 from 12 noon until Service Time at the funeral home.
