The beloved husband of the late Peggy V. Barber, Scott was a man of deep faith and generous spirit who loved his family, church, and friends wholeheartedly. His kindness and compassion touched all who knew him, leaving a lasting legacy of love and warmth.
Scott was the son of the late Mallory Palmer Barber and Allie Scott Barber. Born in Washington, D.C., he grew up in Spring Hill near Scotland Neck, North Carolina.
He graduated from Scotland Neck High School in 1958 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from N.C. State College (now N.C. State University). Following graduation, Scott began his career at the paper mill in Roanoke Rapids, where he served in a variety of roles over the years. After 35 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1997 as Maintenance Superintendent from Champion International Corporation.

He was always ready to lend a helping hand with church projects and activities, embodying a true spirit of service and dedication to the mission of All Saints.
Scott had a deep affection for “The Promised Land," his farm in Spring Hill, where he found joy in riding his tractor and tending to the land. He also cherished his time on the front porch of the Ida Lawrence Cottage in Ocracoke, where he shared countless conversations about life, the universe, politics, and world affairs.
As a licensed contractor, Scott designed and oversaw the construction of two homes, approaching each project with remarkable precision and care.
A perfectionist in the best sense, he took great pride in craftsmanship and found beauty in every detail.
