Weldon Police reported that on Sunday March 24, 2019 around 4:03 am, Officer N. Coles conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highway 158 and Holmes Drive after almost being side-swiped by the vehicle.

Officer Coles identified the driver to be a Iesha Sherell Owens, 26, of Weldon after having to ask her several different times to identify herself. During Officer Coles' investigation he was able to determine that Ms. Owens had a revoked drivers license and also an outstanding warrant for arrest out of Cumberland County. Officer Coles was also able to locate marijuana inside the vehicle after a probable cause search. Ms. Owens was taken before a Halifax County Magistrate where she was charged with No Operators License, Simple Possession of Marijuana, and Resisting Public Officer.

Ms. Owens was given a $1,000 secured bond for these charges with a April 16, 2019 court date. Ms. Owens was given a $1,500 secured bond for the warrant for arrest. Officer Coles received assist.
