Roanoke Rapids Police Department

Captain Harold Phillips reported that on Thursday officers responded to East 10th and Jefferson streets about a vehicle collision.

Officers learned that the driver, later identified as Aniqua Johnson of Littleton, and occupants exited the car and got into another vehicle, which they used to flee the scene. The motorist in the vehicle which was struck by the one Johnson was driving was taken to ECU North for treatment of what Phillips said were non-life threatening injuries.

Officer C. Cooke and Field Training Officer S. Langley responded to Hinson Street where a 911 crash detection call was continuously going off and the dispatchers could hear a woman later determined to be Johnson talking about a car wreck.

Cooke and Langley located Johnson, who Phillips said admitted to being the driver and fleeing the scene of the crash.

Officer B. Holcomb assisted in investigating the wreck and gathered security camera footage that corroborated the statements provided to law enforcement.

Johnson was charged with felony hit and run with injury.

She received a $1,500 bond and January 23 district court date.
