A man currently awaiting a district court date on previous fentanyl counts was arrested again today after agents of the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant in the Community Home Park area of Roanoke Rapids off Highway 158.
Major Anzell Harris said the investigation into 53-year-old Kenneth Lassiter began long before this morning’s warrant execution which occurred before 11 this morning.
Lassiter awaits a December 16 district court date for charges lodged in the spring when he was reportedly selling narcotics from a motel room in Roanoke Rapids. “Most recently from his residence in Community Home Park, Lassiter has continued to sell these dangerous drugs in the Roanoke Valley area,” Harris said. “Lassiter is known for selling fentanyl which is highly addictive.”
During the search of the residence, agents located fentanyl and marijuana along with a handgun. Lassiter has a significant criminal history and a criminal history check by agents confirmed he is a convicted felon.
Agents arrested and charged Lassiter with possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance, felony maintaining dwelling with controlled substance, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.
He was jailed without the opportunity for bond and has a January 7 district court date for this morning’s charges.
