The Center for Energy Education welcomes former students who have earned credentials in its three-day utility-scale solar training classes back to campus to learn about upcoming solar job openings in Halifax County.
Community members interested in seeking solar jobs are also invited to attend the free event that’s open to the public.
To meet the anticipated growth of utility-scale solar energy development in the Roanoke Valley, on Friday, November 21 at 3 p.m., C4EE is offering a free workshop reunion for candidates to learn about the anticipated range of full-time construction employment opportunities within the industry.
Those who have completed C4EE’s three-day workshop consisting of solar construction safety fundamentals, an introduction to photovoltaic — PV — modules, mechanical and electrical systems as well as information about full-time, entry-level solar farm installation positions are encouraged to attend the information event.
Industry partners are more likely to hire workers who possess OSHA-10 certification for entry-level jobs since they have in-depth, industry-specific training for general safety and health hazards, especially awareness of ways to identify, prevent and abate job-related hazards while at work.
“Utility-scale solar in Halifax County and surrounding areas will see a significant need for workers to build these projects across the state and country,” said C4EE Workforce & Education Manager Whitney Sessoms. “This event may serve as a launchpad for successful employment opportunities and long-term careers in renewable energy.”
This event targets trained residents who are looking for work and those seeking a career change. Military veterans, justice-involved members and re-entry program participants with credentials are also welcome to participate in this free education and networking opportunity.
“The Center for Energy Education is committed to renewable energy research, education and workforce development,” said Sessoms. “Working with partners and an educated workforce, we strive to offer an economic and social boost to our community.”
Registration is encouraged but not required.
