The service of an arrest warrant for cyberstalking Wednesday also led to opioid trafficking and other counts for a Roanoke Rapids area man.

Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said during the search of the residence and vehicles on the property of Alphonso Lee Williams Jr., approximately 24.1 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 327 grams of marijuana, a Glock 10mm handgun, numerous firearm magazines, ammunition, and marijuana paraphernalia were seized.

Around 4 p.m. the patrol division attempted to serve an arrest warrant in the 300 block of Deer Run Drive to the 35-year-old Williams.

Deputies noticed Williams travel in the direction of his residence on Deer Run. They surrounded the residence and requested assistance from the Criminal Investigation Division and the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force.

Movement was heard from inside and the odor of marijuana was emitting from the residence. Entry was made into the residence and Williams was taken into custody without trouble,

Task force agents applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence based on plain view observations.

Williams was charged with trafficking opioids, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver schedule VI controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling to store controlled substances, felony destroying criminal evidence for attempting to flush narcotics as deputies were attempting to gain entry, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Williams received an $85,000 bond and August 29 district court date.
