The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Captain A.M. Harris:

Two associates were arrested following the execution of a drug search warrant Tuesday shortly before 7 p.m. on Carver Street.

The investigation was conducted by Agent C.A. Parker due to citizen complaints of traffic at the residence.

The warrant was served by the sheriff's office narcotics division.

During the search of the residence agents seized crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Parker arrested and charged Kadijah Lashawn Mills, 23, of the residence, for felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for a controlled substance.

Rahkeem Javon Lashley, 22, of Walston Street, was charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mills received a $2,000 bond and Lashley a $1,500 bond. Both have March 20 court dates.

Operation Medicine Drop

The narcotics division will collect unused prescription and over-the-counter medications at two locations this month.

On March 17 between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. agents will be at Roses and on March 23 they will be at Walgreens between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Members of the sheriff’s office, the respective stores and Safe Kids NC will be working together to provide assistance and support to aid in the proper disposal of prescription and over-the-counter medication.

Weldon Police Department

Chief Chris Davis reported the following:

On Friday around 2:30 p.m., Officer N. Coles responded to the area of the 200 block of Washington Avenue about two men fighting.

Coles determined Greg Cardena, 38, of Weldon, allegedly struck the other person in the face. Coles placed Cardena under arrest but he allegedly continued to communicate threats to the other person.

Cardena was taken before a Halifax County magistrate where he was charged with communicating threats and simple assault.

Cardena received a $750 secured bond with a March 19 court date.

Davis assisted.

On Saturday around 2 a.m., Sergeant L. Melton responded to the 900 block of Sycamore Street on a domestic call.

Melton spoke with a woman at the residence and after his investigation arrested William Tecumseh Hamlin, 70, of Weldon.

Hamlin was taken before a Halifax County magistrate where he was charged with assault on a female.

Hamlin received a $500 secured bond with a March 22 court date.
