The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Shane Guyant:

On Saturday officers L. Balmer and D. Norfleet located a man wanted in a February 10 domestic assault in the 900 block of Henry Street.

The officers took Jimmy Williams Jr. 26, of Gaston into custody without trouble and he remains in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond.

The charges against Williams stem from a domestic assault which occurred in the 1400 block of West Tenth Street in which Officer C. Walker responded.

Walker at the time noticed obvious signs of an assault and a breaking and entering. Williams was in a relationship with the victim.

Officer Walker obtained information and evidence that identified Williams as the suspect but Guyant said he had been difficult to locate.

The warrants served on William Saturday are for felony breaking and/or entering with intent to terrorize, felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor domestic violence.

Guyant said Williams has a violent criminal history which includes previous convictions for resisting a public officer, two convictions for assault on a female, and armed robbery.

He has a March 22 district court appearance.

On Thursday around 10 a.m., PACE Officer J. Conrad responded to a breaking and entering call at a residence in the 1000 block of West Second Street.

Conrad, captains J. Baggett and G. Williams, and Walker were all on the scene within three minutes of receiving the call.

Conrad learned that the suspect, identified as Phillip Dale Brown, was still inside of the residence. Commands were given to exit the residence and Brown complied.

Guyant said Brown,44, admitted to officers that he also entered the shed on the property and had taken a small lockbox.

Brown disconnected the camera system inside the residence after entering through a window that he had broken out.

Brown was charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering.

He remains in the Halifax County Detention Center on a $1,000 secured bond and has a March 28 district court date.

Guyant said Brown has an extensive criminal conviction history that includes larcenies, breaking and entering, assault on a female, shoplifting and injury to personal property.
