A Roanoke Rapids woman was arrested and charged Monday in a bank card fraud case after surrendering to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Jalissa Slade, 32, who as of this report remains in the Halifax County Detention Center, was charged with felony identity theft and felony obtaining property by false pretense.

Captain Scott Hall said on January 7 deputies responded to the area of Timmy Lane in Roanoke Rapids to a report of bank card fraud.

The reporting party stated when they checked their bank account, all their access to the account had been changed.

Investigation showed the suspect in the case had used an ATM in Roanoke Rapids to withdraw cash from the account. The card was also used to move money from the card to Cash App.

Slade, who was being held without the opportunity for bond because she was out on pending charges in another county, was scheduled for a district court appearance today.
