A Weldon man Monday was charged on Pitt County warrants of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

The arrest of 19-year-old Caleb Aursby also led to the arrests of two other men on firearms and marijuana charges, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office. His arrest stems from a shooting in Greenville in December.

Captain Scott Hall said Jalen Lynch, 21,and Jah’Taevious Pierce, 19, both of Roanoke Rapids were also arrested as members of the Criminal Investigations Division with assistance from the patrol division went to an address on East Second Street to serve a warrant to Aursby.

When investigators arrived they located several occupants in a vehicle in front of a residence belonging to Aursby.

Investigators located two firearms concealed between the seats of the vehicle and several plastic bags containing marijuana.
Detective A.V. Holland charged the three with the following:

Aursby — Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was also served with the Pitt County warrants and as of this report remained in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond. He was scheduled to appear in Pitt County District Court today.

Lynch and Pierce —  Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed gun. 

They were scheduled to appear in Halifax County District Court today and were not listed in detention center records this morning.
