A Charlotte woman was arrested and charged this morning for trying to hide 190.8 grams of marijuana, paraphernalia, and an alcoholic beverage at Roanoke River Correctional Institution in Tillery.

As of this report Janasia Truesdale, 25, was still in custody at the Halifax County Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond after being admitted around 4:45 a.m.

Captain Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the specific inmate the delivery was intended for was not clear.

Sergeant D. Coley responded to the prison after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Truesdale faces charges of felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver, possession of a controlled substance on a prison premises, and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance. 

She has a January 31 district court date.
