Enfield police are investigating the fatal shooting of an 81-year-old man Monday.

Chief Eric Johson said in a Facebook post today that Enfield police and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 308 Carriage House Lane and a report that someone was shot.

They discovered that William Neville sustained a fatal gunshot wound. A second gunshot victim was treated and released.

The shooting occurred in the early evening hours.

Johnson has requested assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
