A Roanoke Rapids woman was charged this morning on trafficking and other drug counts following a seat belt stop in the city limits.

Captain Scott Hall said the arrest of Jadetta Bennett, 26, of Dickens Avenue, occurred as the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force was assisting the Roanoke Rapids Police Department Investigations Bureau with a saturation patrol.

Agents saw a woman later identified as Bennett operating a vehicle without the seat belt properly fastened. 

Probable cause was established for agents to conduct a search of the vehicle and Bennett.

Bennett was found to be in possession of varying quantities of powdered cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana. 

She was charged with trafficking in opium/opioid by possession,trafficking in opium/opioid by transportation, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine,

felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle for the sale of narcotics, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a seat belt violation.

Bennett received a $50,000 secured bond and a November 30 court date.
