C4EE welcomes veterans, elected officials, community leaders and the public to a free Veterans Day program on November 9 at 460 Airport Road in Roanoke Rapids to recognize the roles of these individuals for their service to the country.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,

“This collaboration not only honors our veterans and strengthens our community advocacy but it also appropriately sheds a light on their acts of democracy and justice, and many times, sacrifice,” said Mozine Lowe, executive director of C4EE. “We are proud to applaud those within the Roanoke Valley.”

Thanks to community partners NC Works and Turning Point Workforce Development Board, the program features information for job placement, benefit support and health resources, including a shot clinic for flu vaccine boosters with the Halifax County Health Department.

Active duty U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Brodie D. Williams will be the keynote speaker.

As an assistant navigator, he directly provides safe recommendations to senior officers.

In addition to leading planning details within his job, he mentors and trains junior officers and sailors.

Williams has served on multiple platforms during his time in the Navy.

He has deployed on USS Belleau Wood — LHA-3 — USS Pinckney — DDG-91 — USS Peleliu — LHA-5 — and USS Devastator — MCM-6.

He has sailed across the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic oceans while seeing Hawaii, Guam, Philippines, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, UAE and Seychelles, among others.

Williams is scheduled to retire in 2025.
