Tare “T” Davis Monday announced his campaign for the North Carolina Senate District 2 race.
The senatorial district encompasses Warren, Halifax, Martin, Chowan, Hyde, Carteret, Washington and Pamlico counties.
Davis made the announcement on his social platform, and in discussing his varied background, said, “This is who I am and who I am yet to be. My humble beginnings are rooted deep in Halifax County. From my days at Weldon High School to my graduation from basic law enforcement training school, from my years of service in the NCSHP (North Carolina State Highway Patrol) to my days serving as a county commissioner in Warren County, I have lived a life of service.”

He said, “It is only fitting that I extend the scope of my commitment to the people of North Carolina by officially announcing my candidacy for North Carolina Senate District 2.”
In the announcement he said, “The three pillars of my campaign are faith, family and education because I believe that these three factors are vital components to the success, growth, and stability of our communities.”
Davis said, “I was told long ago there are two important times in life — the day you were born and the day you understand why.”
Describing a collage he used in the announcement, he said, “The pictures you see are a reflection of my life’s experiences of service and how I have developed into the person you now know. As many of those chapters have or are coming to a close, I ask you to journey with me as I become the agent of change as your next North Carolina state senator.”
