A Gaston woman is wanted by Weldon police for stealing money from her employer and guests that stayed at the motel where she worked over a two-month period.

Chief Christopher Davis said more than $20,000 had been taken via a mobile app that Brooklyn Simone Fields used.

The police department received the report on Friday shortly after 6:30 p.m. and Corporal I. Smith responded to the business located in the 1600 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Smith learned that the 27-year-old Fields used the app to pocket the motel’s money as well as the money of guests by charging them for amenities they didn’t receive.

While the case is still under investigation, Fields currently faces charges of larceny by employee, obtaining property by false pretense, and identity theft.

Davis said Fields is encouraged to surrender to law enforcement and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
