The Roanoke Rapids Police Club is issuing a friendly challenge to area businesses and civic groups.

“The Angel’s Closet does tremendous work in our community,” said Lieutenant Bruce Norton, club president. “One of their operations is a food bank, which assists area families in need of basic food supplies. This time of year is hard on the food bank due to a decline of donations after the holiday season, while the demand continues to increase.”

To assist in helping to replenish their supply, the Roanoke Rapids Police Club has donated $500, which was immediately converted to supplies and is being distributed to needy families at this time.

The club is challenging area local businesses and civic groups to assist Angel’s Closet with this replenishment.

Beginning today through February 28, businesses or groups can make a monetary donation to Angel’s Closet food bank.

On March 1 the club will determine the largest donation and that business or group will receive a Chick-fil-A catered breakfast delivered by members of the police club.

“Thanks to our friends at Chick-fil-A  for their outstanding support of the efforts of the Roanoke Rapids Police Club in the community,” Norton said.

Qualifying donations can be made two ways:

• Businesses or groups can make a check payable to Angel’s Closet and in the memo note R.R.P.C. Challenge and mail to:

Angel’s Closet

Attn: Gilbert Portela

244 Hunting Ridge Rd

Roanoke Rapids, NC  27870

• Businesses or groups can make a check payable to Angel’s Closet and in the memo note R.R.P.C. Challenge and stop by the police department and drop off the check Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
