A Roanoke Rapids man charged last week in an April 4 shooting is scheduled for a first appearance in Halifax County District Court Wednesday.

Lieutenant Shane Guyant of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said 33-year-old Audwin Lamount Parker faces four counts of assault by pointing a gun and received a surrender bond of $40,000 due to a 2022 flee to elude charge in Halifax County which was not related to the April 4 shooting in the Davie Volunteer Fire Department parking lot.

Guyant said investigation by Detective Travis Clark showed that Parker was involved in a domestic matter involving a woman with whom he had a relationship.

Parker, according to Guyant, followed the victim and four other passengers into the parking lot. He said Parker pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim and three others. Guyant said Parker also fired a shot and struck a man who got out of the vehicle during the argument.

The man did not cooperate with law enforcement.

Clark charged Parker last Wednesday.

At the time of his arrest last week he was jailed without the opportunity for bond due to the domestic nature of the case.

Halifax County Detention Center records show he is no longer incarcerated as he awaits his first appearance.
