Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following:

Roanoke Rapids Police Department

Chief Bobby Martin said on Wednesday the narcotics division along with the criminal investigation division executed a search warrant in what is traditionally called the no-hundred block of Roanoke Avenue. 

The search yielded 40 grams of crack cocaine, 2 grams of powdered cocaine, two dosage units of Oxycodone, 2 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. 

Antwan Smith, 41, of Roanoke Rapids, was charged with the following: Trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, two counts of possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, misdemeanor possession of schedule II, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  

He received a $20,000 bond and November 8 court date. 

Halifax County Sheriff’s Office

Lieutenant Shane Guyant said on Wednesday evening Sergeant E. Richardson noticed a vehicle traveling with a headlight out in the area of Medoc Mountain Road near Will Richardson Road.  

The sergeant identified the driver as Jovanni Ariel Richardson, 25, of Hollister.  

During the traffic stop Sergeant Richardson smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  

Upon a probable cause search of the vehicle 10 ecstasy tablets were discovered hidden inside a container. 

Jovanni Richardson was subsequently arrested and charged with:

Felony possession of schedule I controlled substance 

Possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule I controlled substance 

Maintaining a vehicle to store controlled substances

Richardson received a $5,000 bond and November 9 court date.
