A stabbing victim is recovering and a man was arrested for the crime which occurred early Monday morning, Weldon police say.
Sergeant T.L. Mason said the stabbing, which occurred in the 400 block of West Third Street, was the result of an apparent domestic dispute.
In a statement Mason said officers N. Coles and A. Burgess received a call from Halifax Regional Medical Center about a person who had been stabbed. The call was received shortly after 1:45 a.m.
Officers identified the alleged suspect as Lewis Estee Jackson, 34, of Weldon. Coles located Jackson walking near Grant Park Laundry and with assistance of Halifax County Sheriff’s Office deputies, took him into custody without trouble.
Jackson was taken to a magistrate and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
He was jailed without opportunity for bond and has a February 6 court date.
Additional charges may be filed, Mason said in the statement.
