Gregory B. Davis Foundation recently donated proceeds from its annual Bike Ride for a Cause fundraiser to Halifax County Schools.

This year the foundation chose to raise funds for school supplies in Halifax and Northampton counties.

August 19 was the first time in two years the foundation held the ride due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aim of the foundation is to provide opportunities for everyone to live a better life. Its services and donations are offered to all in need, without regard to their race, religion, or background.

"The purpose is to benefit the local community with resources and education on health-related causes,” said foundation President Edna Davis. “We are happy to be out and be connected."

Valencia Davis, a GBDF board member, said, "Each year, we focus on a particular cause, and we chose to raise funding for school supplies. This event's proceeds are for school teacher supplies in Halifax and Northampton counties."

Superintendent Eric Cunningham said, "We are thankful for Gregory B. Davis

Foundation and what they are doing for our community. Supplies are essential for students to be prepared and to do well in school.”

The foundation had its beginnings in August of 2000 and was formed to preserve the memory and legacy of Gregory B. Davis.

The donation was presented by Anzell and Valencia Davis.
