Two Halifax County students and one from Bertie received scholarships from EDF Renewables as the result of a recent career fair hosted by the Center for Energy Education.

Deshaun Snow, a student at Northwest Collegiate Academy received a $1,500 scholarship. Gabriel Roberts of Roanoke Rapids Early College received a $1,000 scholarship. Ladajah Joyner of Bertie Early College received a $500 scholarship.

A ceremony was held last week at the center.

Each student submitted an essay at the EDF Renewables booth during the May fair and they were selected based on their essays. More than 50 students submitted essays.

Amanda Mack, of the EDF Renewables Project Development Team, presented the students with their scholarship awards.  

She also extended an invitation to mentor all three students.

The career aspirations of the students include entrepreneurship, forestry, and land surveillance.
