Two Roanoke Rapids men face opioid-related counts following the execution of a search warrant in the 500 block of Whitaker Street Monday.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said the warrant was served around 10 a.m. by the narcotics division with assistance from the criminal investigation division.

The charges lodged against 55-year-old David Sparks and 60-year-old Charles Pearson were based on an investigation fueled by multiple community complaints about the residence.

The search yielded methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Sparks was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver schedules I and II along with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pearson was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver schedule II, felony possession of schedule I, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men received July 28 court dates and $15,000 bonds.

The police department encourages the community to contact law enforcement with tips or information about drug activity at 252-533-2810 or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
