The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting which occurred in the area of Highway 158 Saturday night around 9.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall said deputies arrived in the 9000 block of Highway 158 and learned through central communications that the male victim was at a residence at Ingrams Place just outside Roanoke Rapids.

The man had been shot multiple times and was initially transported to Vidant North before being taken to a trauma center.

Detectives continue to investigate. An updated condition was not available as of this report.
