The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Chief Deputy Scott Hall:

Detectives continue to investigate a string of catalytic converter thefts in the Roanoke Valley area and have made an additional arrest. 

Daniel W. Bradley, 35, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested Sunday by deputies and charged with five counts of larceny of motor vehicle parts and a count of first-degree trespassing.

Bradley received a $25,000 bond and Wednesday court date.

Hall said the Bradley case is related to the case of James David Williams of Halifax, who was charged last week on 13 counts related to catalytic converter theft and a count of first-degree trespassing.

The investigation continues and more charges are likely.

On March 8 a package of contraband was delivered to the premises of the Halifax County Detention Center. 

Based on investigation by Detective A.C. Wood warrants were obtained on three individuals. 

On March 8 Dieysha Simmons, 22, of Roanoke Rapids was arrested and charged with felony providing contraband to an inmate, felony providing a mobile device to an inmate, misdemeanor providing tobacco to an inmate, as well as felony conspiracy. 

Dieysha Simmons posted a $20,000 secured bond. 

On Monday Kwame Robinson, 25, an inmate at the detention center, was charged with felony conspiracy and received a $5,000 secured bond. 

Shamrk Simmons, 37, of Roanoke Rapids was charged with felony aid and abet providing drugs to an inmate as well as felony conspiracy. 

Shamrk Simmons posted a $20,000 bond. All three individuals have March 24 court dates. pending.

“The safety and security of our jail is foremost and any attempts of providing contraband to an inmate in the custody of the Halifax County Detention Center will not be tolerated,” Hall said.
