A Roanoke Rapids man is wanted in a Thursday afternoon assault on his estranged wife, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Dion Johnson, 52, is known to frequent the Creekside Court and Davie Smith Street areas, Chief Deputy Scott Hall said.

Thursday around 2:30 p.m. Lieutenant Steven Casey and Agent Harold Phillips responded to a disturbance call at the home of his former wife. The learned Johnson broke into her home, assaulted her and stole her car, a 2003 burgundy Ford Taurus. He left the area in an unknown direction.

Johnson is wanted for breaking and entering with intent to terrorize, violation of a domestic violence protective order, larceny of a motor vehicle, assault on a female, communicating threats and injury to real property.

The vehicle has been entered into national criminal databases.
