After success with her first children’s book titled Ruby Joins the Choir, Conway native Regina Barrett is starring in her first film called Finding Me.

The film-short had a pre-Christmas premier and has now been released on the streaming website Vimeo.

Barrett stars in the film as Emma. “The character Emma was relatable yet empowering and I am truly thankful and blessed to have been selected for this role,” she said.

Finding Me is a Big Bam Production, written by Crishna Murray and directed by Alan Adeleke, and Barrett said it takes the viewer “on a very emotional and empowering journey where we watch Barrett show the pain Emma faces as she deals with an abusive marriage and the challenge of finding her way out.”

The film also co-stars a native of Henderson, Corwin Evans, who has acted in the popular STARZ drama series P-Valley.

Evans takes on the role as the abusive husband in the film. “Corwin represented the character well, maybe too well, and we are all so very proud of him,” Barrett said. “He was most considerate and down to earth while on set. During the stunt scenes he would always make sure that I was OK after each take. I couldn’t have asked for a better co-star in this role.”

A singer-songwriter, Barrett wrote and performed the song Scream for the film’s soundtrack and said of the opportunity it was another dream come true to have her song take part in the movie’s production. Barrett released the single in July.

“I want everyone to check out this film and please share, with hopes that you could save a life. I am extremely thankful for everyone’s support in my many endeavors,” Barrett said

Barrett has recently released another single entitled Emotionally Unavailable which is streaming on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and all music platforms.

She hopes to release her second children’s book to continue her Ruby series this year.

She is also looking “forward to this new year with new opportunities and hopes to further her acting and singing career and will strive to be the best that she can at all that she does.”
