The Vidant North Hospital Development Council will hold the inaugural Lights of Love tree event on December 8 at 6 p.m.

It is the newest fundraiser for the council, which was formerly known as the Halifax Regional Foundation.

The donations will benefit the Vidant North Hospital Hope Fund which supports the medical facility’s greatest needs, the hospital said.

Gifts to the Hope Fund give the hospital the ability to help patients and their families across the community by funding efforts such as the following:

Patient and frontline caregiver support programs

Treatment room enhancements in Cardiology and Emergency Departments

Specialized equipment for women’s and pediatric care

Advanced diagnostic technology to improve treatment and positive outcomes

Physical improvements to the second, third and fifth floors

Those who contribute can mark the donations as a tribute to a loved one, friend or colleague who has had an impact on their life or to an organization or group that has impacted the lives of others in the community.

The monetary gifts can be in honor of an individual or group to acknowledge a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary or other important milestone or as a thank you and expression of gratitude.

The donations can also be earmarked in memory of a person to celebrate their life.

An acknowledgment of the gift is sent to the person or organization designated.
