Members of Trail Life USA and American Heritage Girls Troop NC-0100 performed a service project where they packed more than 100 Shoebox Gifts through Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child.

It was a huge success for the troop and the children around the world who will be receiving these gifts, said charter organization representative Joe Long.  “One of the most important aspects of the troop’s program is community service and teaching the youth about the importance of giving back to others. As youth progress upwards through the ranks and earn their advancements, many hours of community service are required.”

Troop member Ethan Rountree said he enjoys “the ability to work with others and to know that what he is doing is making a difference.”

Troop member Gabrielle Long echoed that sentiment saying “being part of this organization is not just about fun but also about learning about others and having a sense of belonging.”

Parents of children 5 through 18 interested in having their children join may contact Scott Joyner at 252-536-9280, Long at 252-586-7471, or Ann Hudomint at 252-533-9291.

Troop meetings are held every Monday night from 7 to 8:30 at 715 Jackson Street in Roanoke Rapids.
