The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Chief Deputy Scott Hall:
A Monday morning traffic stop on Interstate 95 resulted in cocaine trafficking charges lodged against two men.
Hall said the 7.8 ounces of powdered cocaine was in the possession of one of the men arrested.

The two men — Quenton Harris, 24, of Hookerton and Brandon Cannon, 29, of Grifton — were apparently heading back to their home when Lieutenant C.E. Carroll stopped them in the southbound lane near the 165 mile marker for an unsafe movement violation.
Carroll stopped the 2007 Buick around 10 a.m.
After talking with the men, an investigative search was conducted.
Carroll located the cocaine and charged both men with trafficking cocaine and conspiracy to traffic in cocaine.
They received $10,000 bonds and September 1 court dates.
Lieutenants Steven Casey and John Bozard, Detective Sergeant Harold Phillips and Deputy Matt Wilkins assisted.
On July 26 Victor Clarence Garner Jr., 45, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested as the result of a five-month long investigation conducted by Detective R.M. Brown.
Garner was charged with three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 12 counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor.
These charges stem from an investigation of Garner downloading and disseminating child pornography through the internet.
He received a $50,000 bond and awaits an August 18 court date.
Hall said more charges could be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
In 2018 Garner received a suspended sentence and parole for the same charges.
He has been on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry since August of 2018.
