Halifax County government will reopen its offices effective Thursday.

In conjunction with the reopening, county board of commissioners Chair Vernon Bryant signed a proclamation which lifts a state of emergency in place since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March of last year.

The termination of the state of emergency is effective at noon on Thursday.

The Halifax County Board of Commissioners will return to in-person meetings beginning with the July 12 meeting.

Social distancing measures will be in place and masks will be required by all in attendance.

Individual county departments may have additional rules or measures in place to maintain staff and public safety.

The county encourages visitors to be mindful of signage and other guidelines that may be posted outside of county offices.
