The two victims in a Sunday evening shooting in Roanoke Rapids have been treated and released from medical care, city police Chief Bobby Martin said this afternoon.

He said investigators continue to follow-up on leads in the shooting, which officers were  called to around 5:45 p.m.

Shots were reportedly fired from a vehicle in the 400 blocks of Madison and Monroe streets.

Thus far there have been no suspect or vehicle descriptions released.

Responding to a shots fired call, officers were told that two people sustained gunshot wounds.

Officers got to the victims and they were carried to a medical facility.
