Roanoke Rapids High School senior Kaitlin Moseley is the recipient of this year’s Ethel  Crawley Scholarship, giving her a free undergraduate education to the college of her choice.  

RRHS principal Jeff White and school counselor Jessica Elias surprised Moseley with the scholarship letter today at Roanoke Rapids High School surrounded by her parents, Craig and Lynne Moseley.

The Ethel W. Crawley Memorial Education Fund Scholarship directs a scholarship selection committee to award a full four-year scholarship that will cover tuition, room, board, school fees, and books.   

In addition to the scholarship, the recipients will receive additional money to purchase a computer.

Moseley said she was propelled to pursue a career in medicine after her father received a heart transplant in 2013.   

She has a pre-acceptance to Campbell University’s Medical School and plans to initially major in biology.  

“I’m grateful to have the opportunity to pursue my dreams to become a physician and hope to one day return to a rural North Carolina community to work,” Moseley said. “This really is an answer to prayer. I’m thankful to my family and friends who have helped me to get to this point.” said Moseley.   

Ethel Crawley died April 11,1998, and was a lifelong resident of Littleton, teaching music for 28 years at Littleton High School. Her scholarship has benefited dozens of Roanoke Valley students over the years.  

“Kaitlin earned straight A’s her entire school career.  She’s truly a model student and deserving of this award.  We wish her the best,” said White.
