The Halifax County Health Department added six new positive cases of COVID-19 to its data today.

The new cases bring the cumulative positives since March of last year to 5,520.

There have been 109 related deaths.

The department will also begin offering vaccines every Thursday from 9.m. to 4 p.m. beginning next week. 

Location will be at the health department at 19 North Dobbs Street in Halifax.

On Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. there will be a COVID-19 town hall meeting focusing on rural northeastern North Carolina. Discussion will focus on the vaccine.

Featured presenters will include Dr. Christine Daniels, a researcher from Duke University; Dr. Alison Bartel, a medical provider from Rural Health Group; representatives from the Roanoke Valley area health departments and staff members of the COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Project.
