Today the Halifax County Health Department added one death related to COVID-19 and 23 new positive cases.

The latest death related to the virus brings the total to 107. Since March of last year there have been 5,335 positive cases.

Meanwhile, the health department reported today appointments are available for anyone ages 18 and over who want to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

The health department will sponsor a first dose vaccine event Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tillery Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at 40 Community Center Road in Tillery.

On April 29 the health department will sponsor a second dose vaccine clinic at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church located at 4531 Highway 43 in Hollister. Time of the event is noon through 7 p.m.
