Citizen complaints as well as those from Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith on possible drug transactions in Rich Square led agents to the 100 block of Hart Swamp Road Thursday morning and the arrest of a 19-year-old man.

Lieutenant C.A. Parker, who conducted the investigation which led to the arrest of Torey Futrell, was granted a search warrant after several weeks of investigation.

The search warrant was executed shortly before 8 a.m. by narcotics agents and members of the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division.

Agents seized 466 grams of marijuana, currency and digital scales.

Parker arrested and charged Futrell for felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Futrell received a $5,000 bond and April 20 court date.

Citizens are encouraged to report possible drug activity by calling the narcotics division at 252-534-2611 extension 175 or Crime Stoppers at 252-534-1110.
