A death related to COVID-19 brings the total in Halifax County to 101, the health department reported today.

The county remains below the 5 percent positive rate that has been the health department’s target with six new positives added today. The total cumulative number of positive cases since last March is now 5,049, the health department reported.

Data on recoveries and current cases was not immediately available in today’s report. Earlier this week health department Director Bruce Robistow told commissioners the county’s recovery rate last week was at 92.3 percent and current cases for the time period were at 5.3 percent. The percentages of deaths is 2 percent, the health department reported today.

After a peak the week of January 9, the numbers decreased for the past week.

Percent Positive of COVID 19 Cases

The percent positive decreased over the past week with a two-week average of 4.5 percent.

Ages 25-49 and 50-64 equally represent the largest age groups who have tested positive this past week.

After a peak the week of January 30, the numbers for the past week decreased.

Northampton County

The health department reported Tuesday there were 1,704 total positive cases of which 1,593 have recovered. There were 44 active cases. There have been 67 related deaths.
