Roanoke Rapids police are investigating two store robberies which occurred Wednesday night and Monday night.
Chief Bobby Martin said investigation of the Wednesday night robbery is still in the early stages and could not say with certainty whether the two heists are linked.
The robbery Wednesday occurred around 11:45 p.m. at the New Dixie Mart located off Highway 125.
Martin said a single person armed with a handgun entered the store. The person left with an undisclosed amount of money.

On Monday shortly after 10:30 p.m. a person wearing all dark clothing entered New Dixie Mart at Becker Driver and Old Farm Road. The person was armed with a handgun and wore a mask and gloves.
He went behind the counter and demanded money.
After taking the money he exited the store and ran north.
