The Halifax County Health Department reports as of today there have been 1,114 patients who have recovered from the novel coronavirus.

The percentage of recoveries, according to the health department data, is 85.89 percent.

There are 158 current cases.

There have been 25 related deaths and the breakdown is as follows: 16 within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code; three within the Weldon area ZIP code; two within the Scotland Neck area ZIP code; one within the Halifax area ZIP code; one within the Hollister area ZIP code; one within the Enfield area ZIP code; and one within the Littleton area ZIP code.

Of the nine ZIP codes which represent Halifax County only two — Hobgood and Tillery — have had no deaths reported by the health department.

In its report today the health department added 15 new positive cases, bringing the cumulative total since testing began in March to 1,297.

Today’s graphical information shows a decrease in the trend across the county since March 25.

In the graph concerning cases by race and ethnicity the chart shows a peak the week of July 25 and an increase in the percent of positive cases.

The chart documenting the percent of positive tests as a proportion of electronic lab testing shows an increase with a two-week average of 10.2 percent.

The ages of 25-49 and 50-64 represent the largest age groups who have tested positive this week.

The statistics on congregate living peaked the week of July 4 and the numbers for the past week have decreased.

COVID-19 testing

Free COVID-19 testing will be held in conjunction with the North Carolina Central University Advanced Center for COVID related disparities Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hollister Elementary School located at 37432 Highway 561.

There is no appointment necessary and testing is available for those without insurance.

Northampton County

The health department reported Tuesday there were 545 total positive cases of which 501 have recovered. There were 25 active cases. There have been 19 related deaths.
