The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Chief Deputy Scott Hall:
Friday around 3:30 p.m., lieutenants E. Carroll and J. Bozard responded to a traffic stop initiated by Trooper T.D. “Bo” Forsht of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Forsht said this afternoon he stopped Naeem Maurice Ezell, 42, of Woodland, for speeding 70 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone on Highway 561 near Scotland Neck.
Forsht, who cited Ezell for speeding, said the man’s suspicious behavior led him to contact the sheriff’s office.

Bozard deployed his dog Feno, which indicated a positive alert for narcotics.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 5 pounds of marijuana.
Ezell was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle to store a controlled substance.
Hall said investigators believe Ezell was headed back to Northampton County at the time of the stop.
Ezell received a $10,000 secured bond and an October 21 court date for the drug charges.
He has a December 14 court date for the speeding citation.
Armed robbery
Hall said detectives are investigating an armed robbery which occurred Friday night at the Hollister Dollar General.
A man went inside the store armed with a handgun, demanded cash and fled from the store.
He said no other information was immediately available as of this report.
