A Weldon woman faces several charges following a Monday crash in Weldon which claimed the life of a 47-year-old man.

Trooper W.H. Wheeler of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Tierria Jackson, 24, was charged with felony death by vehicle, DWI, no operators license and fail to yield the right of way during a collision with Kelvin C. Watson of Roanoke Rapids.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. Watson was headed south on Washington Avenue on a motorcycle when Jackson failed to yield the right of way to him as she was making a left turn onto West Eleventh Street.

Jackson collided with the motorcycle and Watson went off the road to the right and struck a ditch embankment. He was ejected from his motorcycle and struck a utility pole guide wire.

Watson was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Wheeler said the contributing factors in the case are DWI and failing to yield right of way.

Jackson has a November 4 court date set in Halifax County.
